Kristy has developed horses from their early beginnings; barely broke, green, off the track thoroughbreds looking for a new career, those that have show experience, to experienced horses seeking a new direction. From these starting points, she built upon their strengths and overcame their weaknesses to transform them in to happy, rideable, quality horses. She has always been drawn to horses that need more development; challenged by the prospect of unlocking what holds them back. Frequently the choice of competition depended on what the horse needed or what they could do at that stage of their development; not about “moving up the ranks" rather, taking a well-charted course that resulted in a better horse.
Kristy starting teaching lessons and training others’ horses at age 16. She continued to develop horses and riders for a number of years, before reclaiming her amateur status and developing/competing her own horses and catch riding others at prestigious venues such as Spruce Meadows, Blenheim and on the HITS circuit. She turned professional again in 2015 to help others with their riding, horses, and goals. Kristy works regularly with other leading professionals; both in the USA and internationally.
Kristy has always been drawn to challenging horses and horses that need more development; dedicated to the prospect of unlocking what holds them or their riders back. Kristy is sometimes assisted by her husband Paul Fearis Labradoodles Howie & Buddy. She also works regularly with other leading professionals; both in the USA and internationally.
Kristy also has a strong interest in Course Design, appreciating the more technical courses as they challenge a horse & rider combo; “have you done your homework?”
